The Roucharde-Class Frigate is an anti-submarine vessel featuring a low-RCS design with a catamaran shaped hull. It is capable of seeking out and destroying enemy subs in both blue and green water environments. It is named after Don Ernesto Roucharde, an early voice for Inyurstan independence from imperialist collaboration.

Design

Roucharde class frigates are designed with smooth contour edges and both built and painted with radar-absorbing materials to help reduce radar return. It's hull is also a catamaran design, which while not entirely as effective as a trimaran design can help reduce the acoustic signature of the vessel. Hull portions under the surface are coated with anechoic tiles to help absorb active sonar and mask its acoustic signature to passive sonar when in motion. Pump-jet propulsors generate less noise than traditional propellers to further reduce its acoustic signature, even when in motion. Additionally, active noise reduction systems (Prairie Masker) help make this ship harder to detect by hostile submarines.

Armament

Launched from a single dual-arm launcher, the primary armament of the Roucharde class is the ACS-22 Manta anti-submarine missile, deployed from 3x6 Mk-41 VLS module. This weapon gives the ship the ability to engage enemy submarines at ranges longer than almost any other anti-sub weapon. Secondary anti-sub duties are filled by eight RUM-139 VL-ASROC launched from the same VLS cells. Two pairs of 324mm torpedos and a multiple rocketed depth charge launcher serve as the last-ditch defense against closing submarines.

For air defense, the Roucharde class mounts a single RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile launchers, giving it a combined 360^o close-range defense against aerial targets as well as RIM-162 ESSM missiles quad-packed into the ship's Mk-41 VLS module. Against light surface craft, this ship carries a 57mm autocannon at the bow and two .50 calibre machine guns. The 57mm autocannon can also be used against aircraft such as helicopters and low-flying jets.

Aircraft

Aircraft serve as a vital complement to the Roucharde class's mission, specifically the MH-60R LAMPS III. Shipborne AN/SQQ-89(V)15 software allows the ship to effectively communicate, utilize and share information with its helicopter complement. This vessel is optimized to carry two SH-60 helicopters fitted for anti-submarine missions, but a single larger rotary or VTOL aircraft can be carried if necessary.
