The Kingdom of the Pedallen, infrequently known as Pedala, was a Pre-Ethlorek state in eastern Trellin. Formally established in 215 AD, it was the successor to a much older collection of city-states on the coast of the Bay of Pedalin. Its survival into the 9th century was remarkable for a non-Ethlorek state and a consequence of its systematic absorption of incoming Trellinese settlers, who were required to swear fealty to its king in exchange for territory inland. In this manner the Pedallen's rulers were overlords of powerful vassals such as Ja'ekha. In the early 800s, however, a succession crisis led to several of these vassals rebelling, and in 833 the kingdom collapsed and was subjugated by its former subjects.
