The L54 rifle is a model of Battle Rifle previously employed by the Arthuristan Commonwealth Army and Commonwealth Marines, as well as the militaries of Ghant, Ottonia and other countries. The adoption of the L54 led to a significant increase in the firepower of the average Arthuristan infantryman and was a significant improvement upon the bolt-action Lee-Enfield rifle which came before. Unfortunately, it was also large, heavy and cumbersome, especially when employed by mechanised infantrymen who must operate within the confines with cramped armoured personnel carriers. Accordingly, beginning in the late-80's, they were phased out by the L87 rifle. Small batches remained in use for some time, especially amongst special forces personnel in need of a reliable and powerful scoped marksman rifle.
