The Kingdom of Eschataea (Ⲃⲁⲥⲓⲗⲉⲓⲁ ⲧⲟⲩ Ⲉⲥⲭⲁⲧⲁⲉⲁ), is an absolute monarchy located in the central part of Tellures in the world of Verthandi. It is one of the oldest states in Vethandi, with its origins lying in the conquests of Diodotos I Nicator and his "Ten Thousand" in the Third Century; Hellian mercenaries hired by the Shah of Airyahnem to intervene in a civil war. The increasingly confused circumstances of the war, coupled with the death of the Shah shortly after his arrival, led Diodotos to seize control of the Satrapy of Eschataea and proclaim himself as King. The Eschataean Kingdom soon began a period of rapid expansion, fueled by its control of valuable trade route, expanding southward at the expense of the Airyahnem Vaejah. However, these gains were not to last. In 74 B.C. the Diodotan Dynasty was overthrown by the rebel general Demetrios, who took the throne as Demetrios II. The Demetriad Dynasty was in their own turn deposed in 104 A.D. by Ariobazanes III Soter, a distant scion of the original house, whose line (in some form or another) continues to this day.
