Quách Thanh Phi Torture and Abuse Incident

During Operation Sewer Rat, her unit was assigned to destroy the Hung Ranh Research Institute and capture high-ranking Trieuist and ARPAGHARCORN officials overseeing the Institute's operations and productions. In this mission, her unit traversed through a rundown prison that was rank with cadavers of adults and children, which left a vengeful impression on Như. Afterwards, they captured Quách Thanh Phi, a Trieuist brigadier and the main overseer.

An interrogative session commenced two days after the operation ended, and Như was called in to perform it. Within this session, Như committed acts that left Phi emotionally scarred, if not also mentally. She made him do obscene acts, and verbally abused him for being a "child-killer"; from this, her sadism showed at its fullest. Attempts were made by her cohorts and colleagues to abort the session, but undoubtedly she kept going and offering Phi leniency. Eventually, Phùng Minh Thiệu was called in at the request of Thịnh, and the former stopped the interrogation. Because of her extreme decisions, Như was suspended from duty for one week at the behest of Thịnh, despite Thiệu intending to offer a dishonorable discharge.
