Empress Alice I of the Allied Castarcian States (Alice Pearson, née van Kleine ; born 1 August 1992) was the second wife of Emperor Connor I. On 1 August 2012, she became the second Empress of the Allied Castarcian States.
Biography
Early Life
Alice Von Kleine was born in Avenheim, Roseheim, on 1 August 1992. She was given up by her birth parents and was subsequently adopted. She was raised bilingually and attended private school, in which she excelled.
Early Adult Life
In 2008, at the age of 16, Alice became a Lady-in-waiting to Empress Emily I. Largely due to this, she took a great and active interest in both local and international politics, and the history of the Allied Castarcian States. During this time as a companion of the Empress, war broke out.
Despite the death of the Empress, Alice expressed a deep desire to remain in the royal court and attend to the monarchy. In the early days of conflict, she proved her worth to the royal court by being the only person who could get through to Emperor Connor I, who later let her stay as an aide to him.
Relationship with the Emperor
Naturally, as one might have expected from two people working closely together for an extended period of time, Alice and Connor grew fond of one another, though at first, merely as friends. From the onset, they had been both young (much more so than most of the court) and shared many mutual interests. Emperor Connor, especially because of the time Alice had spent with him in the immediate aftermath of being widowed, regarded her to be the closest person to him. Palace staff give accounts that the two spent most of their own free time in one another's company.
In December 2011, on a failed attempt on the life of Emperor Connor I, Alice was shot in the stomach and barely survived. During an interview aired on "Sally Sadler's Saturday Show" on 19 May 2012, Connor revealed that he only realised his romantic feelings for Alice after 'he had nearly lost her'. The couple began dating in January 2012 and announced their engagement on 15 May 2012. They were wed in a small, private ceremony attended only by close friends and family on 1 August 2012.
Life as Empress
Alice was coronated on 1 August 2012 as Empress of the Allied Castarcian States, shortly after her wedding. An estimated 16 million people within the Empire watched the ceremony on TV at some point during the afternoon, before the couple embarked on their honeymoon. In late 2012, the couple purchased a beachside villa near Emerald Bay for $60,000,000 where they resided until their deaths.
Death and legacy
On 14 May 2016, Alice went to hospital with her husband having injured herself during a sporting activity and underwent routine surgery. However, she had an unexpected allergic reaction to general anaesthesia and went into anaphylactic shock, resulting in a cardiac arrest in which she was not able to be resuscitated from.
Public Image and Perception
Alice, similarly to her husband, was a controversial figure in the ACS, and had been subject to fierce and scathing criticism from the media. Whilst she was typically well liked by the younger generations, her ability, experience and maturity were often been called into question, although she had arguably proven her worth by playing a major role in the formation of the 2014 Education Act and building foreign relations. This, however, has not exempted her from claims that she had put her personal life ahead of her career, spurred by her affinity for public affection. In addition to the scandal concerning a video filmed of her and her husband having sexual intercourse, this prompted some tabloids to label her 'The Whore Empress', but public opinion was largely unaffected by the incident. In fact, it is said that twelve representatives in the Sde Dovian national assembly were caught watching the imperial sex tape during a session. The Empress was also known to engage in charity events alongside her spouse.
The age gap between Alice and Connor as well as how quickly they got married was and still remains a source of controversy in some groups even now.
