Imer the great is generally considered one of the greatest of all Scanderan heroes even amongst the non-Imerian people and the father of the Imerian race and the vanquisher of the Wharen. He was born in the northern iceplains as the son of a chieftain and took control of the tribe when his father died. When the gods later on called for the Scanderans for the Wharen war so were he chosen as the commander of the human armies and were given the silver crown by the gods. In the war did he distinguish himself as not only a great warrior and commander and according to legend so did he fight Ark-irk at the battle of light and shadow where he was wounded and were later on killed in battle in duel with a trio of Wharen mage-kings, according to legend due to the wounds he suffered at the hands of Ark-irk, which stopped the Imerian expansion westward as his army spread out over their newly acquired land as the few remains of the Wharen race were broken and utterly eradicated by the Erathian migration fifty years later.
Imer's body was dragged from the battlefield by his lifelong companion the demigod Belron and drotin Fylrik of the Stjärnkhrone tribe and his hird. The body was burnt according to Scanderan tradition and the silver crown was taken by Drotin Fylrik to his newly established stronghold near the delta of Storfloden that was later on named in honour of the fallen hero. Here did Fylrik vow to give it to the next high king which sadly did not occur until Fylrik's descendant Emanuel managed to conquer Imeriata 900 years later.
Childhood
Not much is known about how Imer's childhood and the stories about him starts first when he was roaming the world as a lonely knight errant with Belron or the leader of a warband with Belron as a captain depending on the story. However so is it known that his father was the leader of a large tribe of humans in the northern iceplains, most tales and runestones tells of the Soderifot tribe.
Adventures
However what is known is that Imer the great rode out in search of adventure with a band of warriors where he won great fame as he duelled Belron over who should go first over a river crossing and won after which Belron followed him as a close adjutant and even lover according to some sources. However what is known is that he launched raids over the Vedian mountains towards the Wharen empire and at one point bedded the high king of the mountains daughter in the disguise of a travelling bard. Finally did he however ask the god Visvind for one of his daughters hand in marriage, something the god agreed to in exchange for the demon king Esralig's crown, the heart of the dragon Serglir and the head of the Wharen mage king Sil-viris. Each item would give him a daughter but the god refused to answer which item would give Imer what wife.
So with trickery did he fool the Demon and the dragon from their crown and heart respectively and with bravery and skill did he sneak into the Wharen city Ari-milrivi and climbed the mage king's tower and slay him in a duel that lasted for two days before he cut off the king's head and ran back to the northern iceplains where he presented the three items to the god Visvind. The god made true of his promise and Imer was married with all three of his daughters that evening.
Commander of the humans during the war
When the gods called for the free northern peoples against the wharen in the south did Imer join up with a large warband behind him carrying his spear Allbane and wearing his white banners just as countless peoples did in the north and during the collaborations held by the humans of the army so were Imer chosen as Alledare or "leader of all" a title that have not been given to anyone since that day.
During the march south so did Imer lead the human parts of the army from victory to victory and were after the battle of light and shadow crowned high king of the south but he died childless after a battle to the east on what became the Imer-Wharen border but where later on pressed east when the Erathians moved in and eradicated the last remaining Wharen.
Legacy
The crown of the high king was brought to Imerbürg by drotin Fylrik that renamed his stronghold "Imerbürg" or "The castle of Imer" in the honour of the fallen hero. More than that so did Imer have a great impact on the Imerian people and many laws he made were still valid in the many fractioned kingdoms he left after him and more importantly did the Imerians themselves start to call the land they conquered Imeriata in his name and they called themselves Imerians.
Even today so is Imer seen as the very manifestation of Imerian martial pride and his honourable life serves as an insperation of countless people from the lowest commoner to the highest nobleman as they tries to live by the personal codex of honour that Imer lived by.
