Dražovice is the capital of Slirnia and with approximately 780,551 inhabitants, it is the largest in the country. The city serves as a cultural, economic and political centre for the rest of Slirnia. Dražovice is located on the banks of the River Čik and between the regions of Šavnik, on the south, and Andrijevica on the north. Over the course of its history, the city has owed its importance to its location near the borders with Amathia and Gaullica, two countries that have influenced on the development of Dražovice.
Before it became the capital of the Principality of Slirnia at the end of the Great War, Dražovice suffered the many invasions from its surrounding powers; however, its origins can be traced back to the feudal territory of the Duchy of Dražovice, under which the settlement around the Castle of Dražovice gained the political influence on the territory as it has nowadays, it was later an important piece of the Unio Trium Nationum. Dražovice has had an important cultural development since then, serving as a confluence point for travellers and merchants. At the beginning of the Great War, the city remained occupied, together with most of the northern territory of Sllirnia, by the forces of the Functionalist Gaullica. The conflict costed Dražovice with an important loss of lives and cultural heritage; however, this was reverted during the period of the Socialist Republic of Slirnia, during which the city was spectator of important social transformations until in the 70's and 80's, the society reclaimed the establishment of the Republic of Slirnia. Since then, Dražovice has gained in the recognition of its heritage with large investments on the promotion of the city development.
Today, Dražovice is noted by having a high quality of life and a vibrant cultural life, with several universities and academic research and think centres established. The Old Town surrounding the Castle is known by being one of the better preserved on the continent and is home to several restaurants and cafés, outside this area, the city has grown with the Aleksandar Boulevar and most recently with the [ !Potsdamer Platz ] development.
