Erich Leopold Freiherr von Rohr is an Acrean General. He is best known for his service as part of Acrean Forces Ruvelka (ACRFR) during the Zemplen War.
Born in Stathelle, Steiermark, von Rohr was born into a family of rich military background. He is the grandson of General Frederik von Rohr, a celebrated Panserkommandant of the Eracuran Great War who served as commander of the Acrean 1st Army during that conflict. He began attending the Royal Academy of Military Science at Königsbrunn (KAMS) in 1988. Dring his time at KAMS, he received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and was well-regarded academically by his professors and commanding officers. Following graduation, von Rohr was commissioned as a Leutnant in the 1st Battalion, 13th Armoured Regiment in 1992 after receiving his first choice of being assigned to Armoured Force. After attending tank school he was assigned to an Strv 124M Pantera bearing the turret number 10-72, and served as a gunner on the platoon commander's tank. He was promoted rather frequently- he was granted the rank of Oberleutnant in 1993, taking command of Pantera 10-72 and achieved Captain in 1997, being granted command of the whole company. Throughout his time as a junior officer, von Rohr was known for being an aggressive tank commander and a theorist, writing several postgraduate papers on armoured and tactical theory. He was promoted to Major in 2000. His time in this position would be short-lived, however, as a large shuffling of the regiment's officers due to the reappointment of then-Colonel Anders Lewenhaupt to a new staff position in armour procurement saw von Rohr promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and taking command of 1st Battalion by 2003, at the personal nomination of Lewenhaupt.
In 2003, on Rohr's battalion was part of a series of joint military exercises in Ruvelka, where von Rohr was one of the officers selected to give lectures on armoured warfare to cadets at Derecske Military Academy. He would be invited back to Derecske to lecture once again in 2007, though no military exercises would take place that year. It is noted that Elsa Szekeres, the future Captain-General of Ruvelka, studied under von Rohr in the spring of 2007. In March 2008, von Rohr was promoted to Colonel and took command of the 13th Armoured Regiment. It would be his prior experience in Ruvelka, as well as his wealth of practical and academic experience, that saw his regiment selected for deployment to Ruvelka in January 2009 to support Ruvelkan forces in the Zemplen War. His regiment played a central role in most of the major engagements for which Acrean forces were present during the war, including Operation Harpe, Operation Overshadow, and Operation Homefront, and he was in part responsible for overseeing the training of Ruvelkan armour crews being re-equipped with Acrean-made Panteras. He was appointed the overall commander of Acrean armoured forces in ACRFR by ACRFR commander General Marcus Ehrenfeldt.
During his tenure as Armoured Force commander of ACRFR, von Rohr was considered an adaptable, competent commander by both his fellow Acrean officers, as well as Ruvelkan allies and Syaran adversaries. The circumstances in which ACRFR's heavy armour was deployed in most battles- opposing Syaran armour- proved very suitable for Acrean armoured doctrine. Von Rohr was known for being able to assess situations and make decisions rapidly, a trait which suited his troops well in fast-paced tactical engagements, but he has also been noted for his comparative lack of strategic experience during the war as only a regimental commander. Nonetheless, von Rohr was decorated for his role in the war, and was instrumental in turning the institutional knowledge gained through Acrean experience in the conflict into practical training in the post-war years.
