The Independent Reader (French reformed: L'Lectreuse Indépendante) is a Gylian newspaper, founded in 1958. It is Gylias' main conservative liberal publication.

History

It was founded in 1958, shortly after the end of the Liberation War. In the ensuing decades, it established a profile as a leading conservative liberal voice, representing the non-Donatellist right of Gylian liberalism, and a readership largely drawing from Centre Group and National Bloc supporters.

The 1990s saw it adopt new technology such as digital printing, establish its website, and digitise its archives through BiblioNet.

Profile

Its political orientation is conservative liberal, closer to Gylian conservatism than liberalism.

It publishes editions in English and French.

Ownership and organisation

The Independent Reader is owned and published by Indre, legally constituted as an SA. Its headquarters are in Déylaŋi, Nerveiík-Iárus-Daláyk.

The newspaper has a 5-member Management Board and a 10-member Supervisory Board, elected yearly.

Its revenue comes from newsagent's sales, paid subscriptions, online orders, and donations. Donors are listed at the end of each issue. It accepts classified advertising.
