At the age of 18, Antón enrolled in the [[Ceannlaidir Martial Academy]] located in [[Ira]], and received a commission as a ''Cadete do Exército'', or Army Cadet. He completed his studies in 1982, and was awarded a commission as a ''Tenente'', or Second Lieutenant. He attended Aisling Airborne Training School and was assigned as a platoon leader with the [[5th Imperial Dragón Brigade]], and later became a company commander with the same unit.
