Organization and Structure

Main article: Organization and Structure of the Redisan Military

There are a number of army groups which are divided among seven military districts. Each theme is overseen by a Deputy General. Each of these officers are appointed by the and the and have full command over their districts. These generals are responsible for serving on the General Staff, which oversees all military operations in the nation.

Each military themata has a central command base, which is usually located near a major city, and two secondary command centers. Command structures for all formations within a themata are based within these cities with the exception of independent brigades, which either have mobile command structures or are based within other smaller facilities within the themata. Independent brigades are nominally under the command of a High General but have the ability within the organization to operate independent of the larger Armies. These are usually used to rapidly reinforce a weakening front or utilized to further strengthen an assault on enemy positions. A lesser mission of these Brigades is to conduct fast operations against enemy forces with specific missions, such as assaulting an enemy base or beachhead while the main enemy force is occupied.

There are seven total army groups, though only five of them are staffed during peace time. The remaining two army groups solely operate a peace time command structure but maintain no active duty forces. These two groups are reserved for conscripts that are called up during a conflict. The peace time composition of these five army groups includes two corps each. These army groups are composed of 25 infantry divisions, 10 armored divisions, and 15 various other types. There are only 30 of these divisions that are staffed at any given moment, though enough equipment for 50 divisions can be quickly procured.

Interspersed through these formations are the independent brigades, which were introduced during modernization reforms in the 1970s. These mobile formations provide a departure from the rigid, theater focused formations of the mid 20th century and provide rapid flexibility for Aegenic forces. There are currently 40 of these brigades in operation with 15 mechanized infantry brigades, 12 armored brigades, 5 artillery brigades, and 8 air defense brigades. In 2010, an initiative was started to intersperse more brigades into the existing formations by splitting up divisional command structures by introducing the capability for regiments to be split into five Brigade groups for independent operations, should the operation require it. The old regiment system was quickly reformed, resulting in entire divisions comprising 10 brigades instead of four regiments. Some divisions retained their rigid structure, however, in order to be able to commit to combined theater operations more effectively and with more strength.

An additional element of the formation is the Garrison Battalion, which can be split off from a divisional or brigade formation for peacetime occupation in high risk areas. Garrison Battalions generally are more heavily armed with access to larger, heavier weapons and typically permanently staff high risk areas. Though mostly found on the border, areas that are of high risk for civil unrest may also have a Garrison Battalion.

Equipment

Approximately 30% of the ground force brigades are either armoured or mechanized. A mechanized infantry squad consists of ten; seven armed with assault rifles, one machine gunner, one medical specialist equipped with a radio and medical equipment, and an antitank specialist. Soldiers who are not mechanized are typically moved via truck. Squad layouts are standardized throughout the armed forces. Troops wear green-patterned camouflage uniforms, combat helmets, and flak jackets with ceramic plates.

The standard side arm of the army is the Alderia Armaments SIP and has been manufactured and issued in vast quantities. Though phased out of front line divisions, vast numbers of Hevelnic Central Foundry Combat Pistols are still utilized by police and reservists. The latest rifle issued to front line troops is the AR-7, which entered production in 2007 to replace older AR-70 and AR-45 models. General issue machine guns include the GMG-10 and the GMG-65. Typical squad automatic weapons consist of SAW-65 weapons issued one per squad.

It is equipped with a highly advanced fire control and active protection suite, which serves as its defence against enemies since it is a light tank.
