Helmut Rommel; (16 April 1931 – 13 June 2007) was an Besmenian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is frequently cited as one of the most influential filmmakers in Besmenian cinematic history. His films cover a wide range of genres. Between 1957 and 2004 Rommel produced, wrote and directed 15 feature films.

Life

Rommel was born in Könlenz in 1931, where he also spent his childhood. From 1942 to 1948 he attended the Olaf-Mutsgut-Regelschule in Könlenz. He received average grades, but displayed a keen interest in literature, photography, and film from a young age, and taught himself all aspects of film production and directing after graduating. After graduating, he worked for the BRF until 1957. Rommel also shot a few reports for the BRF. With the money he earned, Rommel financed his first feature film, The Murderers in Us.
