She debuted in a preview story inserted within IC Comics Presents #27 (September 1980) and was created by Maya Varija and Geevitha Poormitha. The name "Solar" first appeared (for an unrelated character) in an IC Comic in the story "The Knowledgable Woman of the Stars," Curiosities in Space # 75, January 1962, written by Genga Katirvari.
