Married with a Married Couple (Besmenian: Verheiratet mit einem Ehepaar) is an Besmenian sitcom television series that originally aired on BRF 1 from September 23, 1984 to April 1, 1995. The series was created by Bastian Hackelmann and Manuel Hille.

The series was very popular and successful in Besmenia during it's original run. The series also had great success internationally.

Premise

The show takes place in Freiz, Summingia. The young couple Tim Schubert and Mona Haßwald get married. However, on their wedding night, a fire breaks out in their new home, destroying much of their belongings (including most of their money). Since there is nothing left for the two, they ask Tim's old school friend Jörg, to move in his house. Although Jörg is initially against it, he allows Tim and Mona to move into his house.

Important elements of the series are Tim and Mona's professional life and the relationship between Tim and Mona and the relationship between Jörg and Mona.

Main characters

• Walter Hebert as Jörg Ludwig: Jörg Ludwig is Tim's best friend. The two have known each other since primary school. Jörg doesn't have a job and lives on unemployment benefits. Most of the time he is in a bad mood and complains about a lot. Nevertheless, Jörg is helpful and mostly takes care of Tim and Mona's problems, which almost always end in a catastrophe. He is very good friends with his neighbor Herbert, with whom he often goes to the racecourse to make money. From season 6, Jörg has a job as a night watchman in a museum. In the 11th season Jörg has an affair with the Vitosian doctor Olivia Laguos. In the final episode, he and Olivia get married and travel to Vitosium to spend their new life there. Jörg leaves his house to Tim and Mona.
• Paul Vernickel as Tim Schubert: Tim Schubert is Mona's husband and Jörg's best friend. He works in a supermarket. Tim can often be influenced by Jörg. Tim is often portrayed as a weak nerd. His dream is to be rich and to live in a villa with Mona. Tim is often stingy too. His parents are mentioned a lot but never appeared on the series.
• Sandra Pfeffer as Mona Schubert: Mona Schubert (née Haßwald) is the wife of Tim. She started out as a writer and later as a newspaper reporter.

Other characters

• Ramona Waldmann as Margot Haßwald: Margot Haßwald is the mother of Mona and the mother-in-law of Tim. She worked for the Sümmingischer Runfunk (Summingian Broadcasting) until season 5. She doesn't like Jörg.
• Alois Albrecht as Herbert Weiß: Herbert Weiß is Dennis' neighbor. Together with Dennis and sometimes Daniel, he often finds himself in almost criminal situations. He died at the end of Season 8. The reason was that the actor Alois Albrecht died during the filming of the 8th season.
• Sven Bolt as Daniel Haßwald: Daniel Haßwald is Mona's younger brother. He likes Dennis well and goes with him and Herbert and mostly criminal activities. He doesn't like Tim, however, and almost always calls him a nerd. Mona doesn't really like him because Daniel is a scam who often asks Mona for money. He first appeared in season 6.
