In the autumn of 2017, the government of Darkmania announced that it planned to change the way DaTV is financed by removing the license in favour of a 0,5% tax on television starting in 2018. As of 2018, the tax has brought in five and half a billion danks toward the channel in the year alone.

DaTV has, however, a problem with debt and in 2018 had a debt to income of 12,5%. DaTV have announced that they will be cutting "wasteful spending in order to reduce our debt". As of 2021, this has been successful and the debt is expected to be  fully repaided back by 2024.
In 1966 it was decided that DaTV will broadcast their programs in colour
