Bouenezenn Island (Ebrarese: Insula Insmerda, Aurivizh: Bouenezenn) is an island off the coast of Aurivizh in the Adlantic Ocean. It is located south of the Yeetland peninsula, part of the continent of Argis.

Geopolitically, Bouenzenn Island is divided between the [descriptor] of Bouenezenn in the west and the Ebrarian State of Insmerda in the east.

Timeline

• before 6th century: Settled by Geltic peoples
• 6th century: Aromano-Ebrarian colonists settle in eastern Bouenezenn, form city states. Area named Insmerda by Ebrarians, which is what Ebrarians call entire island today.
• 780: Kingdom of Ebrary founded on the mainland by Vorstish conquerors, does not include any part of Bouenezenn.
• Kingdom of Gallasia invades furthest eastern portion of Bouenezenn c. 800 and controls this area.
• Sometime between 850 - 1000 the Duchy of Gailivizh or other Aurivizh polity invades and conquers entire island. Maybe all at once or in multiple wars. Ebrarians inhabit coastal settlements, small number of Gallasians also. They are Christians, Aurivizh may or may not be christian at time of conquering, but this is about the time of Christianization for Aurivizh. This establishes cultural continuity of western 2/3rds of island with Aurivizh.
• Independent Bouenezenn Kingdom or Duchy forms at some date.
• Ebrary conquers/acquires/inherits eastern portion of island sometime before 1500.
• Amendant Reformation occurs, Ebrarian community converts en masse largely to Christenism and Parishism.
• After formation of Kingdom of Aurivizh, the entire island is conquered by Aurivizh in mid to late 1700s.
• Another war of some sort is fought in late 1800s which transferred island, in entirety, to Ebrary.
• During Ebrarian Civil War, Republic of Insmerda declares independence from Ebrary as own state. Ebrarians on island form the elite, many Aurivizh relegated to status of second class citizens.
• 1975 - Pro-Ebrary president of Insmerda is elected, makes efforts to unite with Kingdom of Ebrary. This angers Aurivizh.
• Rigged plebiscite is held in 1976 where a majority votes to join Ebrary. Ebrarian troops move into to island. Plebiscite scheduled to be held in Ebrary in 1977.
• 1977: Ebraro-Aurivizht War happens. Plebiscite put on hold in Ebrary. Aurivizh invades Republic of Insmerda and Ebrary, irredentist or revanchist justification used by Aurivizh based on prescence of ethnic Aurivizh or Celts in areas invaded. While Aurivizh only makes limited and transitory gains on the mainland, Aurivizh quickly makes advances on Bouenezenn and controls western 2/3rds of island. Ebrary pushed into eastern 1/3rd. Mass population movements on ethnic lines occurr, thousands killed. Winter is brutal, more refugees die, so peace deal is brokered (enter Tagmatium).
  • Leads to fall of Republic of Insmerda and formation of Ebrarian State of Insmerda as Ebrarian protectorate and [descriptor] of Bouenezenn as Aurivizht protectorate. Insmerda is roughly eastern 1/3rd of island and Bouenezenn is western 2/3rds.
    • DMZ established on border between two areas.
    • Treaty forbids the annexation of either state by Ebrary or Aurivizh. Treaty promises that a free and open plebiscite on reunification be held, but this has never occurred.
• Ebrarian Revolution occurs and Kingdom of Ebrary falls in 1982. Ebrary becomes Christian Commonwealth of Ebrary. New government moves quickly to maintain control over Ebrarian State of Insmerda. Tensions rise but conflict does not resume.
• Status quo is held. Diplomatically, neither side recognizes the de facto situation. Bouenezenn and Aurivizh recognize the whole island is part of Bouenezenn. Ebrary and Insmerda recognize whole island is part of Insmerda. Each state on the island only has partial recognition internationally because a country which recognizes both will cause diplomatic incident.
