Zhengzhong was a hotbed of unrest at the time and was administered by a cruel yet incompetent governer, the dragon Xian Xi. Huang Shao began to meet in clandestine with other dissatisfied mice including [[He Yi]], [[Pei Shao]] and [[Cai Yanli]]. Eventually, he started the Auspicious Mouse Rebellion in Zhengzhong by donning the iconic yellow colored garb alongside the other mice rebels and killing Xian Xi and his dragon advisors.
