The GPM-21C is a Gun-Launched Anti-Tank Guided Missile (GL-ATGM) designed and produced as a joint venture between Inyursta and the Merick Isles. It was designed during the Lolloh-Ruol Wars in order to give the 111mm 6 Frag Gun used on Mericki LT-46 amphibious tanks and Inyurstan YT-1 light tanks the ability to defeat Lollohian modern armor, including the Gladiator I, Gladiator II and Black Boar MBTs.
Function
Once loaded into the barrel, targets are illuminated manually by the gunnery crew, or UAV/forward observer with a laser. The missile is then fired and follows a top-attack trajectory towards the target, ideally hitting the top of the turret or rear hull where the armor is weakest. If the laser "painting" is lost, the missile will track to the last known position of the target. In a fire support role, targets can be switched by forward observers or UAVs directing the guidance laser onto a new target (for example in situations where the target is misidentified or a higher-priority target emerges).
A 5.3kg tandem-HEAT warhead is used to mitigate the presence of ERA and increase penetrating power.
