AleziRadio Festival of Songs 2000 is the fourty-third edition of the annual AleziRadio Festival of Songs. The competition was held as usual in 16th of May 2000 by the authorities of Radio Basna Raya. This is the fifteenth time that Zafizamarrah hosted the festival and the thirteenth time that the Metropolitan hosted the competition. after the victory of "شيء أريد أن أقول" sung by Andi Ma'ruf Hazari. This is the first festival to be held on the new millenium and in the 21st century.
The festival was held in Metropolitan Zafizamarrah, which was (and still is) the capital and the biggest city in North Alezia, where it was home to 2,198,322 people as of 2000 according to the 2000 population census. As the capital, Metropolitan Zafizamarrah enjoyed a comfortable position as the biggest economic area with them hosting the Zafizamarranian Stock Exchange.
The AleziRadio Festival of Songs was hosted once again in the historical Independence Hall which had been doubled in seat count from 6,000 to 12,000; enough to host ARFOS. The hall has previously hosted AleziRadio Festival of Songs 1958 and 1967, and then hosted its junior contest, Junior AleziRadio Festival of Songs' inagural edition back in 1998. This makes the hall the most used venue for AleziRadio events.
The decision to host the festival in Independence Hall is to give tribute to AleziRadio's vibrant history in the festival, bringing the festival back to its' roots for the twenty-first century. The festival also introduced new technological advances. Streaming from the new internet site arico.net was introduced here. In the stream, users were given the chance to discuss the competition online with fellow users.
Updates to the voting system were also made, where instead of two televoting areas, only one was used per region and in place of the second televoting, ABA, AleziRadio, and ARICO tested an online vote where all the votes that were sent shall be given propotionally to the final result. In order to avoid big regions like Basna and Zafizamarrah taking most of the votes due to its' big population added with the possibility to vote for their own regions, each users are given five votes to send.
Benni Lavanivais returned to the festival after previously representing Aramna and earning 4th place last year. Another returning artist is Misha Kalkov who represented Pyalivostok solo after previously pairing up with Nerinda Yeliyeva in 1990 and earning 10th place. This year also saw the appearance of Jen, Alton, and Michael Harrison, who are the children of the Bristolian representative at the first edition of the Festival way back in 1958, Norton Harrison who earned fourth. And more uniquely, Norton conducted the Bristolian entries this year.
