Ryan (previously Rys and Rhÿs and later Anglicized as Ryan) is the personal surname of the descendants of King Dirk I of Cordonia. The House of Ryan was named after the surname. Dirk I proposed and ratified the change during wikipedia:World War IIWorld War II to distance the Cordonian royal family from their German ancestry, similar to that of the British and other European royal families. Cordonian persons who use a royal title and style do not need to use a surname according to the Constitution of Cordonia, but Ryan is used when one is needed (see explanation below).
