The 1994 Nishfund coup d'état was a military coup which took place on 16 April 1994 and resulted in the overthrow of Nishfund president Calder James Umarof. Umarof was deposed by soldiers in the Nishfund Armed Forces loyal to Navy Admiral Lascen Rathoth. The coup was supported by Scalizagastian forces as part of Operation Lemongrass, which is also the commonly-known name of the coup in Scalizagasti. The coup ended fifteen years of autocratic rule under Umarof's Nishfund Patriotic Party and eventually led to the return of multi-party elections in June 1995 and the replacement of Nishfund's presidential system with a parliamentary one.
Although Umarof was captured by Scalizagastian special forces on 16 April and forced to resign as president, loyalist elements of the Army and Air Force led by former Defense Minister Nor Seddinkorey staged a resistance against the new government in the April War.
