Although the continent of Cimmeria has been largely unsettled at least between 4000 and 2600 BCE, a confederacy of semi-nomadic peoples known as the Iron Horde arrived in the mainland by circa 2400 BCE from as far as Cold Transudelia. Having crossed through the Udel mountain range, they settled the Hyborian half of the mainland, interacting and somewhat intermingling with the indigenous tribes that predate them. From the Late Iron Age, the septs of the Iron Horde were organized into various warring kingdoms spanning between the Gulf of Utgard and the Lapetan Basin.
