The Patriotic League (Mespalian Patriotîcquinen liquiœ, French: Ligue patriotique) is a nationalist political party in Mespalia.
The party was founded in 1922 as a splinter group from the then-dominant League of the Swan, a militant fascist movement that was involved in the 1925 Mespalian coup d'état attempt. Its members opposed the militancy of the original movement and instead strived to gain representation via the electoral process. Originally the League was very small, but it gained popularity after King Charles II publicly condemnded the League of the Swan for its extremist activities.
Since then, the League has been the main voice for nationalist politics in Mespalia. Though the League has historically opposed the Aininian minority's disproportional influence in Mespalian politics and supported an unilingual Mespalian state, since the 1980's the party has started attracting French-speaking voters as well. Ties with the Aininian National Alliance has also been strengthened, especially during the chairmanship of Anton de Vésins, a Mespalian Aininian. The League is critical of immigration and opposes Mespalia's membership in the Esquarian Community. The party's economic policy is somewhat incoherent, as there are both right-wing and left-wing tendencies within the party.
