Tirena, officially the Brotherhood of Tirena, is a nation in eastern central Mars. It is bordered by Traxa to the southwest, Promida to the southeast, Gang Territory to the west and east, and Unincorporated Mars to the north.
Tirena ranks low in civil liberties and political freedom does not exist. Tirena is run by a non-hereditary dictatorship and has been since the country’s formation. There is no political opposition allowed and no elected political office. There are practically no civil liberties protected in the country and their status is constantly changing.
Tirena has what is called a crude economy. There is very little regulation and large economic disparities. Economic restrictions are essentially nonexistent. This has caused a highly unstable economy to form, which has no majority markets. The products made in Tirena include almost everything.
Etymology
Tirena was named after an old region of Mars called Tyrrhena Terra which encompassed an area including northeastern Tirena. Tyrrhen is name given to an albedo feature involving many small creaters across a large area of a planetary body.
