The DC-2000 (Defensor Caeli-2000) Ground-Based Close-In Weapon System is a Blackhelm Confederate weapon system for close-in air defence in various scenarios. It presents the final shield to intercept and kill those low and ultra-low flying cruise missiles, precision-guided weapons and aircrafts that penetrate within 3.5 km of the target. The mission of DC-2000 is to protect high-value ground assets such as nuclear facilities, TBM launching positions, long-range SAM troops and central command centers, etc.
Design
The DC-2000 set up consists of combat vehicle that incorporates a J-band tracking radar, a TV/IR tracking system and an enhanced 30 mm seven-barrel Gatling gun, together with an intelligence & command vehicle that integrates a search radar with an intelligence console. In addition, the DC-2000 fire unit is deployed with ammunition support vehicles, power supply vehicles, one warning radar and maintenance vehicles.
The Intelligence & command vehicle (ICV) combines a search radar with an intelligence console, and provides increased situational awareness, automatic target search, acquisition, identification, threat evaluation, target indication, and optimal control of subordinate combat vehicles. The ICV is also able to communicate with superior operational command systems through data links. Each vehicle has a tracking radar with a range of 18 kilometers against targets with a RCS of 2 m^2. This drops to 9 kilometers against a RCS of 0.1 m^2. A combined television/infrared tracking system with a range of about 5 kilometers is also included.
The combat vehicle can automatically receive target indications from the ICV, acquire and track targets, resolve fire solution, aim and fire. It consists of a tracking radar system, an E/O tracking system, a director, a gun, ammunition, a direction/position finder, a levelling system, communications equipment, etc.
The system uses an 8x8 off-road truck as the chassis, and a remote-controlled rotating turret at the rear of the truck with seven 30-mm guns. The artillery has two ammunition boxes, each containing 500 pieces of shelled armor-piercing projectiles and high-explosive bombs. Above the gun is a wide-band tracking radar and a day/night aiming system with a laser rangefinder. The artillery has a rate of fire of 4,000 rounds per round and a maximum range of 3,000 meters, but the target destroying distance is generally between 1,000 and 1,500 meters.
