Founded by Olivier Bernes in 1899 as a rolling stock manufacturer, the company entered the aerospace market in 1920 when it formed the Morgenroete Aircraft Company. It merged with Lucenne Aircraft in 1935 to form Morgenroete Aerospace. The company today consists of three divisions, Morgenroete Capital, Morgenroete Rail and Morgenroete Aerospace.
