The Federal Protective Service (FPS) is a Meridonian federal law enforcement agency under the Homeland Department charged with the protection of federal officials, foreign dignitaries, and visiting foreign officials. Founded in 1911 after the assasination of President TBD to serve as a presidential close bodyguard unit, its services has since expanded significantly. It is one of the preeminent federal law enforcement agencies of Meridon, particularly owed to its efficacy in defending charges.

The Federal Protective Service's mission is stated as the "proactive and active defense of high-level Federal officials, assets, and facilities." In practice, the Federal Protective Service provides close protection teams to senior-ranking members of the government and those in the presidential line of succession, including the President and Vice President; the Senate President and Deputy Senate President , as well as the Secretaries of the State Department and Treasury Departments. Protection for the Defense Secretary is authorized by law however is normally performed by Defense Forces personnel. The FPS maintains a uniformed police wing that provides policing services at events attended by the President or Vice President, such as State of the Republic addresses, and serve as permanently stationed guards at Whiteriver Manor and Wooling House in tandem with augments with the Cordelia Metropolitan Police Service.

The FPS also maintains tactical Fast Response Teams, counter-sniper and air defense teams, as well as an investigative wing which monitors threats against senior-level public officials in tandem with the Domestic Security Agency.
