Ataru was born in Telora and attended the famous St Michael's Prepatory Academy before attending the University of Telora School of Humanities, receiving is bachelor's degree in international studies. Ataru then attended Kiernan College where he received his Masters in International Relations. Ataru began his professional career as a civil servant in the Foreign Office and served as a diplomatic attache for over ten years. After leaving the civil service to pursue business endeavors, Ataru decided to run for office during the 2014 general election. Ataru quickly became a party favorite and was almost immediately selected to be a member of the Appropriations Committee, followed by the Select Committee on Intelligence due to his prior civil service.
