The Constitutional Democratic Party or K-D is the second largest political party in Seredinia by seats in the State Duma and the largest party in the Federal Council. It was founded on 22 March 1906 by Valeriy Sergeyevich Rostov, Maxim Ignatievich Golubev, and Anna Pavlovna Kayakova, each dissident pro-republican activists. It has been led by Anatole Ignatievich Apraxin since 6 June 2006, and has held the presidency of Seredinia since 2010.
Originally founded as an anti-monarchist, pro-republican popular movement, the KDP -- or Kadets -- played a major role in the Christmas Revolution of 1910, which saw the Seredinian Monarchy deposed and the reigning Tsar Anatole I imprisoned. The revolution, which culminated in the 27 December storming of the Palace of Golden Hills, saw two founding members killed in the chaos and the third, Maxim Ignatievich Golubev, installed as interim President of Seredinia. Historically a liberal party, the Kadets began shifting to the right-wing during the interwar era between the first and second Triangle Wars. As of 2019, it is the largest party of the right in Seredinia, and has contributed numerous Premiers and Presidents to the Seredinian Executive.
The Kadets hold the largest minority of seats in the lower State Duma with 256, and serve as the official opposition to the governing Social Democratic-Liberal Republican coalition. They are the largest party in the upper Federal Council with 110 Councillors, a ten seat majority.
