Alexander von Wiest (1 March 1947 - 25 September 2011), often referred to by his initials AVW, was a Besmenian was an right-wing extremist politician, who served as governor of Greuningia from 1998 to 2008. Von Wiest was also chairman of the Besmenian Republican Party from 1989 to 1990 and chairman of the BRP's successor party National Besmenian Party from 1990 until his death in 2011. By rotation, Von Wiest also served as president of the Federal Senate from 12 November to 31 December 1998.

Von Wiet was elected to the Greungingian State Chamber in the 1978 Greuningian state election. At 31, he was the youngest MP. After the resignation of Helmut Schwarzberg as BRP party chairman after the heavy defeat of the BRP in the 1989 Besmenian federal election, von Wiest was appointed as the new party chairman. Under him, the BRP and the 1987 founded party National Besmenian Alliance joined forces in July 1990 to form the new National Besmenian Party. Von Wiest became NBP party leader.

Von Wiest's critics called him, among other things, a right-wing populist with some right-wing extremist ideology. In his years as party leader of the BRP and NBP, von Wiest often deliberately used insulting words towards other politicians and used a provocative language. In doing so. He also often spoke disparagingly about international politicians. To this day, von Wiest is considered as one of the most controversial politicians in Besmenia.

On September 2, 2011, Von Wiest was kidnapped by supporters of Al-Fijar. On September 25, his dead body was discovered in a wooded area near Lenzborn. His assassination sparked a heated debate about terrorism in Besmenia.

Kidnapping and murder

On September 2, 2011, Von Wiest was kidnapped by Al-Fijar members in Laitstadt while he was on his way to the Federal Chamber. His driver and bodyguard were killed amid a hail of 34 bullets. His kidnappers demanded that the federal government release four imprisoned Al-Fijar supporters. The federal government under PM Jörg Rautenberg decided after several crisis meetings not to respond to the demands.

Von Wiest's relatives had rejected the position of the federal government and provided a ransom of BS 10 million, which the authorities prevented from being handed over. As a result, Von Wiest's family applied to the Federal Constitutional Court for the release of the Al-Fijar prisoners. However, the application was rejected.

After the demanded release of the four Al-Fijar supporters became more and more hopeless, Von Wiest was murdered after more than 3 weeks being held as hostage. His dead body was found on September 25, in a wooded area near Lenzborn. He had been murdered with seven shots.
