Yukino KDK, officially known as the Yukino River Conurbation (Yukizome: 雪乃川の大都市圏, Yukino-kawa no Daitoshi-ken[a]) or unofficially the Yukino Metropolis (from Varforian and Zaychikian/Mykonevni: Yukino Großstadt, Юкино Метрополис/Юкіно Метрополіс), is the largest, and the most populous city in the entirety of Yukizome. Situated where the Yukino meets the Cascade Ocean, it is the fastest-growing city in the Arakami Realm, housing over 20.052 million people as of 2027, with a population density of 6,300 km2 (2,400 sq mi). While it is not the capital city, it is Yukizome's financial and economic capital city, and the country's primary maritime point of entry and exit to the north. Its gargantuar size occupies a huge swathe of Yukino's northeastern corridor. The metropolis is divided extensively into a total of 88 wards.
The conurbation is home to one of the Original Four Nations of Komashi, those being the Yukino River civilisations. The present ward of Naganawa was home to the civilisation that united the multiple civilisations under a common identity. Most of the civilisations of the Yukino River were seafaring traders which often made trades with their Aizawan counterparts to the west and the Zaychikians to the east. Under the Convention of Shikoku-Minato in 1030, the Yukino River civilisations were assimilated into the first definitive Komashi state of Shikoku.
Retaining its name of Naganawa throughout the turbulent times of the Domain Wars, the town rose to its prominence in 1715 when the Royal House and Monarchy of Yukino moved its residence from Chōsuke to the thriving village. Further development kicked out with the construction of the Yukino Castle in Shih-na, and soon enough, during the First Komashi Confederation's lifetime, Naganawa rapidly grew, and in the 19th century the city became the first example of an early metropolis, which then in 1875, was granted city status, officially naming it what it is today.
Etymology
The term Yukino KDK (雪乃・KDK) is a contraction of the city's full name in the Yukizome language - Yukino-kawa no Daitoshi-ken.
The city was originally known as Naganawa, a fishing village and now a ward of the gargantuan metropolis. It takes its name from one of the original Yukino River civilsations that once settled there, specifically the city-state, sharing borders with its neighbouring Yukino civilisations, like the Makashi, the Ko'naka, and the city-state of Heifai.

Notes
- ↑ Due to rendaku, kawa (かわ) is pronounced as gawa (がわ), but the city council and the Ministry of Civil Affairs officially mandates kawa as the correct spelling of the city name due to the unique punctuated form of the city's full name. See Etymology section.
