Presidential elections in Sateroc are scheduled to be held on 30 July 2024, in order to choose a president for a five-year term beginning on 20 August 2024. This election will be the first election since the 2019 Saterocian Revolution, and will be the second ever in its history.
Incumbent president Oljon Slach is running for a second term, which will be his first full-length term due to the fact that he came to power after former president Jonrov Mornes was ousted in August 2023. Germain Nicoldanov is representing the National Unitary Platform, an ultra-nationalist party which has lately become very popular amongst Saterocians, however has continued to remain extremely unpopular amongst ethnic minorities in Cascutia and Saroq, especially after the events of the 2024 Elmonton massacre. Other leading candidates include notable figures such as Adeline Borisovna, representing the center-right Democracy Alliance, Vinofrid Innochard, representing the far-left Socialist Party of Sateroc, and Sébastien Victorov, representing the center-leaning National Coalition. Jonrov Mornes has also announced that he will be running independently, however has failed to garner a large amount of support in his campaign.
Oljon Slach himself announced that, following approval from the Saterocian National Assembly, elections would be held on 30 July, with filing of candidacies taking place up until the end of May, and campaigning taking place from 15 June to 25 July.
The elections are expected to be free and fair, due to Sateroc's democratic rise, however following the 2023 conflict, there is fear that the government may use past events as a pretext to cease democratic practices during the election. Alongside this, ethnic minorities within the country have spoken out against the election being based around the Saterocian portions of the nation, rather than autonomous elections for the more diverse regions such as Cascutia and Saroq.
