After the [[1948 East Besmenian federal election]], the LBB and the SDU formed a government under Prime Minister Albrecht Nebeling. The BVP formed the opposition with the BKP in the Besmenian Federal Chamber.
When the [[World War (Iearth)#East Nortua|Zoygarian invasion of eastern Nortua]] began in 1951 during the [[World War (Iearth)|World War]], the LBB and the three other parties in the Federal Chamber had formed a coalition government. The dramatic events in the southern part of East Besmenia led to discussions about postponing the federal election. However, the election went ahead as planned, but the parliamentary parties agreed to exercise restraint in the election campaign. The main aim was for the governing parties to emphasize their credibility.

Government formation
