Cheonghae Federation, natively 청해 연방 - is a democratic country located in the spiral arm of our galaxy. 296 star systems belong to the Federation, and it includes 882 habitable planets.
Cheonghae is a country established by the union of three countries that existed on Planet Albert 112 - the Republic of Eulji, the Republic of New Halifax, and the Kingdom of Chandra - into one country. In the 2020s, three human nations existed on Planet Albert 112 after the landing of South Korea's colony ship 'ROKS Arirang', Canada's colony ship 'HMCS Halifax', and India's colony ship 'INS Chandra'. The Republic of Eulji, the Republic of New Halifax, and the Kingdom of Chandra were located on different continents but began to clash with each other as humanity spread across the planet.
In 2132, when the Planetary Unification Movement was initiated under the leadership of Han Jeong-gi, the politician of the Republic of Eulji, the political environment of the planets began to change rapidly. Han Jeong-gi insisted that the entire planet be integrated into one country to prepare for threats posed by other forces and races in outer space. The unification movement was very well received by the three countries, and in 2142, the three countries were unified into one federation as the political parties that supported Han Jeong-gi won elections in all three countries.
History
The early pioneering period
In the 2020s, colony ships from all over the world left Earth and headed to other planets in the galaxy as part of a private initiative following the boom of space colonization. 'ROKS Arirang' from South Korea, 'HMCS Halifax' from Canada, and 'INS Chandra' from India were among the many such colony ships.
While most countries and companies on Earth were preoccupied with space colonization, they did not share important information, such as the name and location of the target planet, to preempt the planet and profits. As a result, spaceships with overlapping destinations existed, and it was not uncommon for more than one colony ship to settle on a planet.
'ROKS Arirang', 'HMCS Halifax', and 'INS Chandra' arrived on the planet called Albert 112 around the same time. Because the Albert 112 planet was a planet with five continents, the three colony ships were able to settle on different continents. As a result, there was no conflict between the pioneers in the early stages of the pioneering period. The early pioneering period was a time when human exchanges between the pioneers of the three colony ships were rare, but trade still existed during those times. From the mid-2030s to the early 2050s, trade between the three continents where the pioneers settled was estimated to be about $23.4 million based on the exchange rate in 2220.
Anti-aging genetic engineering technology, a technology developed among the pioneers of the ROKS Arirang in 2045 was exported to other continents, causing an explosion in the planet's population. Since the development of genetic engineering methods that prevent incomplete replication of the Telomere chromosome, the planet's residents have increased from 10,000 in 2046 to 6 million in 2066.
The rush period
Starting with the Republic of Eulji in 2024 the pioneers built their own countries to pioneer planets in earnest. The Republic of Eulji, the Republic of New Halifax, and the Kingdom of Chandra spread their populations to surrounding areas, centering on the continent where they first settled.
The pioneers of the three colony ships spread across the Albert 112 planet thanks to a dramatic increase in lifespan caused by the advent of anti-aging technology. By the year 2130, the planet's population was over 100 million, and humans were living on all five continents. The pioneers built cities across the continent, and it is believed from this time that the identity of "from planet Albert 112" rather than "from Earth" began to form.
Goverment
The structure of Cheonghae's government is determined by its constitution. Cheonghae's constitution has been revised several times since its enactment in 2153, and today's constitution has been revised in 2191.
Like many democratic countries, Cheonghae's government is composed of a legislative, judicial, and executive branch. The chief executive officer of the administration is the president, who also serves as the head of state. As the head of the administration, the president has executive, military, and diplomatic powers. The president can be impeached if he violates the Constitution, which requires the consent of a majority of the National Assembly and a final ruling by the Supreme Court. The legislature consists of a unicameral system National Assembly. The National Assembly consists of 1,500 members, who have the power to draft, amend, and enact legislation and the power to revise the Constitution. The Assembly can be dissolved by the president's decision, but in this case, a final ruling from the Supreme Court is required. The judiciary consists of the district court, the high court, and the Supreme Court. The district court and the high court are scattered in each province, but there is only one Supreme Court. The Supreme Court consists of Supreme Court justices recommended by the president and the National Assembly, and the elected chief justice.
Society
Cheonghae is a multiethnic country where multiple races coexist. Although 35 percent of the population is of Korean descent, they do not monopolize the primary positions and powers of society. Thanks to the Planetary Unification Movement's efforts to end ethnic conflicts, ethnic conflicts are known to be almost nonexistent within Cheonghae today. Racist speech and hate speech are strictly restricted by law, and acts that promote racial conflict are prohibited by several laws. However, social and legal discrimination regarding nationality still exists. The primary reason the Planetary Unification Movement was able to expand across the planet was to prevent threats from outer space, which has led to a society-wide sense of alertness to other countries existing in outer space. This trend has intensified since Cheonghae's encounter with Alvum.
Cheonghae's social security system is universally applicable to all citizens. All citizens are guaranteed a minimum living environment and economic conditions, and education is universally equal to all citizens, regardless of their economic level. Regardless of the social security system, the economic right to create, expand, and accumulate wealth is guaranteed to all citizens. Today, the gap between the rich and the poor in Cheonghae has narrowed compared to before the reunification of the planet, but the top 10 percent of conglomerates still have 40 percent of Cheonghae's total wealth.
All citizens of Cheonghae receive free anti-aging procedures. This is a policy that has been made with the aim of increasing the population since the beginning of the planet's founding, and it is still being implemented under the principle of universality and equality without changing the policy to this day. Today, the life expectancy of Cheonghae's people is calculated to be 600 years old, and many of the early pioneering generations are still engaged in economic and social activities throughout society.
The impact of cybernetic technology is widespread throughout society. Within Cheonghae, all payments and goods transactions are made through micro-personal terminals attached to the outer surface of people's brains. All economic activities are done through electronic money, but governments and law enforcement agencies cannot check individual economic activity details without proper execution of warrants. Micro-personal terminals play a significant role in most fields, such as entertainment, personal communication, and education, as well as economic activities. The people of Cheonghae rely heavily on micro-personal terminals in the fields of personal communication, network access, financial transactions, and school education. Because of this importance, the software management and updates of micro-personal terminals are strictly managed by government agencies. In addition, all micro-personal terminals have basic security programs installed and receive real-time security monitoring services from security specialists.

Economy
Cheonghae's national economy is led by many large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises. Each company is making profits by leading a variety of fields, from asteroid belt mineral mining to interplanetary trade, planetary exploration, and infrastructure development.
Helium-3 is classified as a strategic resource for Cheonghae. Helium-3, a raw material used for room-temperature nuclear fusion, occupies an important place in Cheonghae. Although there are not a few planetary and asteroid belts where helium-3 is buried, due to the high demand for it, the government of Cheonghae manages helium-3 through a state-run company.
Since the majority of habitable planets that belong to Cheonghae's territory are used as residential complexes, agriculture is practiced not only on habitable land but also on ordinary rocky planets. Because the farmland used in Cheonghae adopts indoor cultivation methods, not the same way as humans did before entering space, it is possible to farm even on a planet without an atmosphere as long as it has enclosed cultivation facilities. In this case, the agricultural facilities are built with dozens of floors or more to make the most of the land's area.
Manufacturing, which has less land or environmental constraints than agriculture, is carried out on habitable planets, general rock planets, asteroid belts, space colony stations, and even at Lagrange Point. Small electronics and consumer goods are produced with little restriction on location. Personal vehicles are typically produced on populated planets for accessibility.
However, due to size and efficiency issues, spaceships are produced in planetary orbits or on shipyard stations located at Lagrange Point. It is not impossible to take off large spaceships several kilometers long into space from the surface of the planet, but it consumes a lot of energy and money.
Industrial high-speed 3D printers are common to small businesses as well as large businesses.
Science and Technology
In Cheonghae, anti-aging technologies have become commonplace. Developed by scientists in the early days of settlement, anti-aging technologies were quickly introduced to the public by governments that intended to increase their national power through population growth, and all the populations benefited from them. Since the development of genetic engineering methods that prevent incomplete replication of the Telomere chromosome, the planet's residents have increased from 10,000 in 2046 to 6 million in 2066. Cheonghae's cybernetic technology is highly advanced. Micro-personal terminals for interplanetary real-time communication, data exchange, network access, payments, and more are implanted into people's bodies and used in a way that connects to their brains. No physical or mental side effects from these technologies have been reported.
Cheonghae uses the Antonovich Drive for space navigation and produces the Antonovich Drive domestically.
Nuclear fusion is mainly used in the private sector of Cheonghae, but anti-material pair annihilation generators are used in the electricity generation of state-owned companies and military ships. Electricity generation using Pair annihilation technology is more efficient than nuclear fusion, but it is difficult to manage and expensive, so it is only operated by the government.
Superconductors are widely used in various fields of society, including fusion technology and pair annihilation technology.
