Cheonghae Federation, natively 청해 연방 - is a democratic country located in the southern part of the Pelia continent. The state of Cheonghae, the capital, and largest state, and the states of Ereuncia and Zhonghai are federated.
The Cheonghae Federation was established after the Three Nations War ended in 1546 AR. Following Cheonghae's victory in the war between Cheonghae and Ereuncia and Zhonghai, Cheonghae founded a federation to integrate all the other two countries, which leads to today's Cheonghae Federation.
Goverment
The Cheonghae Federation is a federal state in which three states form one country, and the leader of the federation is the president. The president is elected by a majority by referendum once every four years. The president has the right to diplomatic, the right to military, the right to dissolve Congress, and the right to declare laws.
The legislature, the National Assembly, consists of 350 lawmakers. Lawmakers are elected in the quadrennial general election and can serve a total of four consecutive terms. The National Assembly has the right to impeach public officials, including the president, to legislate, and to deliberate on budgets.
The judiciary is divided into district courts, high courts, and the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court holds the right to review the law unconstitutional and to make final decisions on the impeachment of public officials.
History
Cheonghae Federal Defense Forces
The Cheonghae Federal Defense Forces(CFDF) are the only military organization of the Cheonghae Federation. It is divided into Army, Navy, and Air Force, and plays a role in the security of Cheonghae.
The CFDF's total command is held by the president. However, the actual command is exercised by the Minister of Defense, and in case of emergency, the CFDF will include not only regular troops but also reserve forces.
All citizens of Cheonghae are required to serve in the military for at least 21 months in the CFDF. The draft targets are men and women who have passed physical examinations between the ages of 19 and 28, and soldiers who have completed their military service will be in the reserve force for five years.
The CFDF has nuclear weapons and chemical weapons as mutually assured destruction means. In case of emergency, the president and the defense minister will have the authority to launch nuclear weapons.
The CFDF maintains a so-called 'military-industrial complex' that maintains interdependence with defense companies for its interests. CFDF seeks to strengthen its power by expanding the role of the military, while defense companies seek profits by maintaining the military's demand for weapons.
The military-industrial complex is considered the main cause of political corruption in Cheonghai today. CFDF and defense companies are actively lobbying the political community for their interests, so the main national policies are determined by the interests of the military-industrial complex. If a policy that goes against the interests of the military-industrial complex is mentioned or formulated, the CFDF and defense companies thwart such attempts through active lobbying and intimidation.
