The Hanahan are a bipedal reptilian species found on their native planet of Fanato and found throughout the Talin Galaxy. Characterized by their nasal valves, ringed eyelids, scaly ear flaps, noticeably spikes on the limbs, stubby tails, and fine body scales and - on average - standing at 1.8 metres. Regarded as technologically primitive compared to other species with most developments in transportation and resource extraction, Hanahan are also quite religious and clan-divided with hierarchies, often relying on old codes and rules overseen by the priesthood. The Hanahan primarily live in subterranean systems but a few modern cities now exist on the surface. On other planets, Hanahan can be found as miners, labourers, security, and most menial professions however most possess keen eyesight and smell and great memory.

Society
Hanahan society has traditionally featured clan membership, social status and caste hierarchies.
Clans
Clans have been a historic part of the Hanahan. Today, there are 23 major clans and a further 41 minor clans. Each Hanahan clan, led by a chief (hanafo), is made up of family groups each led by its patriarch. A series of hanafon (plural of hanafo) may bond together into a clan confederation. The position of hanafo is hereditary often through a patrilineal principle but in some cases a female may inherit the position of hanafo; ultimately, it is the hanafo's decision over succession.
Social stratification
Hanahan society has featured caste hierarchies within each clan and political confederation. These hierarchical systems have included nobles, priests, craftsmen and the lower stratas.
Traditionally, Hanahan society is hierarchical, with the priesthood considered the highest caste. The priests hold significant power through carrying arms and owning commodities however most castes keep weapons for self-defence and tradition. Most of the nobility were capable warriors, achieving their social status through battle, subjugation and religious favour.

Clothing
Traditional attire among the Hanahan is quite conservative with both sexes expected to wear robes that cover the body and practical headwear. Face veils are also worn though only for important reasons. There are several differences between male and female attire and caste and religion also affect the choice of clothing with more elegant and intricately-detailed clothes worn by the higher castes and the priesthood and more simplistic clothes worn by the lower castes. In recent decades clothing from outside of Fanato has influenced modern attire, especially in more-developed areas.
