In the 2016 General National Election each party was able to obtain a small number of seats in The House of Representatives and the Senate. However there results were overshadowed by the dominant Conservative and Centrist parties who controlled the government.
Meeting a were held behind closed doors to work out a suitable alliance deal and how to organise the leadership structure. On January 2, 2018 the party leaders released a media report to annouce the party merger.
Christian and Family groups protested the alliance calling it a union of devils, due to the parties strong support of abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage.

Violet Hungary was elected as leader of the party. She advised the party would represent all citizens and push for changes to improve the lifestyles of all citizens and not just the upper elite.
The Socalist Party and Communist Party were also invited to join the new party, but both declined.
