Elsa Nikolá Szekeres (Ruvelkan: Ìłůí Ṵĩűĭłi Ứìűìṷìů; IPA: /ɛlsɑː nɪkɒlɑː ʒɛkɛrɛs/; born 12 August 1986) is the current Captain-General of Ruvelka. Her tenure as Ruvelka's supreme leader has been characterized by the Principality's most prosperous period since Captain-General Dorman’s rule following the Ruvelkan Civil War. It is anticipated that Elsa will maintain the backing of both the Generals' Council and Technocrat Association for at least several more years.
She has spent her entire military career serving in the Ruvelkan Imperial Army, rising to the rank of General over the course of the past decade. She returned home to her place of birth for the first time since her conscription in 2011 following her appointment to the position of Captain-General. As Ruvelka's leader, Elsa has managed to significantly improve the living standards of the nation's civilian population as well as bring Ruvelka back onto the world stage.
Childhood to Current Life
Elsa Nikola Szekeres was born on 12 August 1986 in Sátoraljaújhely, Derecske District, Ruvelka, to parents Adelaida Sulina Szekeres (1961-1991) and Orban Ödi Szekeres (née Bokor; 1958-1991). Her father was a coal miner and her mother was an operator of the nearby Csorna nuclear power plant. In 1991, at the age of five, her mother would die of acute radiation syndrome which would later be attributed to faulty shielding in Csorna's number four reactor control room. Two months later, her father would be trapped by a mine collapse which would cause his eventual death by asphyxiation in the worst mining incident in recent Ruvelkan history.
Education
An orphan, Elsa was taken in by the state orphanage program and subjected to accelerated training that placed her in the Imperial Army officer corps at sixteen. This accelerated program put considerable emphasis on military skills and leadership as opposed to general education and technical learning. Her calm and calculating demeanor quickly placed her at the top of her class and earned her the rank of first lieutenant. Alongside her leadership, tactical, and strategic thinking, Elsa was also well-noted for excelling in her few general education classes. She completed her training at Derecske Military Academy in 2002.
Military Service
As with all Ruvelkans when they reach the age of sixteen, Elsa began her career in the Ruvelkan military as a member of its officer corps and was assigned to the Imperial Army's 4th Mountain Infantry, a division of the Army Battlegroup 6 stationed alongside the Ruvelkan-Acrean border. Her time with the 4th Mountain was characterized by a significant amount of border patrols and scouting as well as extensive training in climbing, mountain, and cold weather survival. She went through a single year-long tour of duty with the 4th before being assigned to the 13th Special Infantry of Army Battlegroup 1, where she would spend most of her career. The majority of her time spent serving in the 13th is primarily classified, but it is known that by the end of her fifth year she had achieved the rank of colonel.
After a few months spent in medical recovery, Elsa returned at the forefront of the 2nd Army's 4th Light Armor Brigade. Elsa would go on to comment that her time commanding the 4th Light Armor, and later the 1st Mechanized Infantry, would be considered the easiest time she has ever spent in the military. At the end of her eighth year of service, Elsa Szekeres had reached the rank of general, was a recognized member of the Generals' Council, and held command of the Army Battlegroup 5.
Captain-General of Ruvelka
Elsa was nominated for the position of Captain-General in mid 2011 despite having only been promoted to the Royal Army's First Seat in the Generals' Council in 2007 and was quickly endorsed by incumbent Captain-General Edviná Molnár. Although Edviná still maintained the backing of the majority of the current Generals' Council, her shift in focus from technology to improving the nation's standard of living resulted in the Technocrat Association's loss of faith. She decided to step-down respectfully in May 2011 in light of Elsa's quickly growing popularity in both Ruvelka's stratocratic and technocratic elite. Elsa would officially assume office on 23 May.
Although more military-minded than her predecessor, Elsa continued to pursue several of Edviná's policies regarding the nation's standard of living while also balancing demands from the Technocrat Association. This gained her a significant amount of admiration from the non-military Ruvelkan populace while simultaneously earning the chagrin of the Technocrats who had voted for her appointment.
Expounding on the agenda of heightening Ruvelka's military presence, the end of the year saw significant increases in garrisons stationed along the borders. Intimations hinted of possible aggressive Ruvelkan expansion, but 2011 came to a close with the absence of further Ruvelkan military movement.
All doubts that had been raised by the time of the 2012 State of the Principality Address were dashed when data revealed a significant increase in national production. The national improvements that had been implemented beginning under the tenure of Edviná illustrated that a happier populace produced better results which included—but was not limited to—higher production numbers and improved product quality. The case that the Association had built against Elsa was dismissed in early February of the same year.
Her rule in 2012 went primarily uninterrupted and she continued with the previous objectives she had laid out upon her appointment. In mid-March, Elsa went on to marry a member of the Technocrat Association in an attempt to close the gap between the nation's military and technological ruling bodies. The marriage was also used to debunk rumors of Elsa's apparent homosexuality. Although they appear visually distant, Ádorján and Elsa assure that they are close in their marriage.
2013 was characterized by several state-sponsored technological advancements both in the civilian and military sectors. Under Elsa, Ruvelka has begun a steady transition from primarily fossil fuel to nuclear power—often considered to be one of her most successful progressive national accomplishments. The year also saw a significant increase in the size and frequency of military exercises starting with Operation Northern Veil 2013 which saw an unprecedented commitment of troops from the Imperial Army and Imperial Air Force.
The next year saw the death of Royal Princess Anett Prohászka who had held the title for only fourteen years before losing her battle with cancer in September 2014. Elsa assisted in conducting her state funeral and burial as well as overseeing the accession of Anett’s daughter, Monika Prohászka. Much of the year was used to continue the nation’s nuclear power program and to further increase Ruvelka’s national industrial capability. Elsa’s most recent years as Captain-General has seen a gradual build-up of the nation’s military forces while also attempting to balance general improvement in regards to non-stratocratic citizens of the Principality.
Personal Life
Alongside her native Ruvelkan and Hungarian, Elsa is capable of speaking fluent English and is exceptionally proficient in Russian.
As a member of the Imperial Army and several special training programs due to her status as an orphan, Elsa is extremely skilled in Ruvelkan self-defense and is considered to surpass former Captain-General Kátálin Dorman in martial arts prowess. She maintains a silver ribbon, the highest rank in Ruvelkan martial arts. Elsa is also an avid skier and snowboarder.
Since 2010, Elsa has maintained a sexual partnership with former classmate and fellow Generals' Council member Hájnálká Sárközi. In 2011, Elsa confirmed speculation that she identifies as pansexual and is characterized as the most open sexually active Captain-General to date.
Elsa married Technocrat Ádorján Kövér on 16 March 2012 as part of a political maneuver to secure further unity between Ruvelka's Generals' Council and Technocrat Association. Although married, Elsa and Ádorján do not live together as a result of the membership of their corresponding political bodies. Despite the outward appearance of their physical distance, their marriage was confirmed consummated in May of the same year. As of 2014, they currently have no children.
