The United States of the Tao Navy, USTN, also referred to as the Taoist Navy, is the worldwide maritime warfare branch of the United States of the Tao Armed Forces, tasked with Naval Warfare for the UST, global power projection for the UST, and helping in distant humanitarian efforts. It is the only Navy of the UST, though it is not the only branch which deals with Naval Warfare, the United States of the Tao Coast Guard is a branch which also operates capital ships (though small ones), but focuses more on naval defence of the UST and humanitarian/rescue efforts than the USTN which focuses more on offensive power, and power projection.

While the USTN was established in 1948, the Tao has one of the oldest cultures in Sunalaya and has a rich naval history. While they couldn't hold up to western designs, Taoist ships from the 14th-17th centuries are widely considered to be very well designed and well built for their time; this is often thought to be because of the concept of "Kami no Umi" or "Divine Sea" which suggests that, if one wants to sail on the seas they should take care to use a vessel of quality and art; it is often thought that this mindset is what has historically inspired a concept of quality over quantity in the previous Taoist Navies.

Founding Of The USTN
1948-2019 (USTN)
After the riots and ultimately the independence of the Tao in 1948, Noburu Hachirou set towards setting up his newfound nation. One of the first steps in Hachirou's plan was reorganizing the militia he had built up into the Taoist Armed Forces. Constructing the Army was quite easy, but the Navy and Airforce were a little more difficult, as the ships and planes that Hachirou had control of were all in a serious state of disrepair and neglect. Hachirou decided the best way to get the Taoist navy up and running would be to sell two of its battleships to pay for the repairs on most of the fleet, it was a controversial decision at the time.
Fallowing World War II many within the Dronden Pact wanted to see the Tao without an established military and be controlled, or heavily influenced by a foreign power. Some of the occupiers of the Tao inside the Droden pact, namely Rhodevus, held a firm position against this, however. Ultimately with the help Rhodevus, the United States of the Tao (UST) was created, along with it come the United States of the Tao Navy.

After the fleet was repaired and operational, life was quite in the USTN, with the new isolationist policies, there were no engagements, patrols, or diplomatic missions, but rather lots of drills and time in ports. It should be noted, however, that the fleet did take part in scuttling a sort of small rogue Taoist state in the north.

Equipment
On August 7, 2017, the Taoist Armed Forces, under the nationalist government, was wanting to test a ship-launched EMP device. The USTN offered to mount the device to the "TNS Diketa" for testing. The device was tested just 400 miles off the coast of Sunrisia, who had been heavily protesting the actions of the Nationalist Government in the Tao at the time. Testing proved to be "Beyond Satisfactory" as the device was estimated to be capable of wiping out electronics within a 20mile radius. The EMP testing was a major controversial event, both then and now.

The Imperial Taoist Navy, ITN, commonly referred to as the Taoist Navy, is the worldwide maritime warfare branch of the Empire of the Tao Armed Forces, tasked with naval warfare, global power projection, and assisting in overseas and domestic humanitarian efforts for the Empire of the Tao. It is the only Navy of the Empire of the Tao, though it is not the only branch which deals with naval warfare, as the Imperial Taoist Coast Guard is a branch which also operates capital ships (though small ones), but focuses more on naval defense, and humanitarian/rescue efforts than the ITN which focuses more on offensive power, and power projection.

History

Early history

While the ITN was established in only 2019, the Tao has one of the oldest cultures in Sunalaya and has a rich naval history.

1948-2019 (USTN)

Fallowing World War II many within the Dronden Pact wanted to see the Tao without an established military and be controlled, or heavily influenced by a foreign power. Some of the occupiers of the Tao inside the Droden pact, namely Rhodevus, held a firm position against this, however. Ultimately with the help Rhodevus, the United States of the Tao (UST) was created, along with it come the United States of the Tao Navy.

Recent history

On May 16, 2019, the UST, along with the USTN was dissolved by Sora Miroyu, and was immediately replaced with the Empire of the Tao, along with the Imperial Taoist Navy, respectively.

Equipment

Ships

All vessels in the Imperial Taoist Navy are given a name designation, this is always followed by a prefix; ITS (Imperial Taoist Ship) for warfare vessels, and TS (Taoist Ship) for various other auxiliary vessels, even some non-navy related ships use this prefix. Almost all ITN vessels also have a hull designation, such as DDV for destroyers or HCV for helicopter carriers, followed by a number.

The ITN has a total of 132 ships, 22 submarines, 1 training submarine, 6 helicopter carriers, 2 amphibious assault ships, 8 cruisers, 28 destroyers, 18 corvettes, 20 mine sweepers, 4 recon & surveillance ships, 4 training ships, 6 supply ships, and 1 experimental ship.
