History
The regiment was established in 1934 to fight against Mussolini's fascist in Libya (Sharifistan went to war with Fascist Italy due to their persecution of Libyan Muslims) since then it has fought in the Arab Israeli War, Korean War, Soviet Afghan War, Yugoslav War, Second Chechen War, Sharifistani-Israeli Wars, War in Afghanistan, Turkish Kurdish Insurgency, Syrian Civil War, 1st Sharifistani Civil War and 2nd Sharifistani Civil War. The unit as a whole was given the Distinguished Gallantry Medal in 1983 for it's role in the Soviet-Afghan War.
Training
Like other regiments in the Sultan's Division such as the Royal Madinat Al-Islam Infantry, their training is 8 weeks longer than for regular infantry regiments, half of this extra training is devoted to expertise in their specialisation (airborne infantry) whilst the other half is devoted to drill and ceremony (such as parades).
Politics
Despite the regiment being part of Al-Saqoor, many of it's members are Maoists as was Ahmed Pathan.
