PBC was created in 1974 and is an governmental organisation funded by public research money . Research at PBC is conducted by approximately 85 independent groups covering the spectrum of Biotechnology. The Laboratory operates from three sites: the main laboratory in San Francisco, and outstations in Salem, and in Honolulu. PBC groups and laboratories perform basic research in molecular biology and biotechnology as well as training for scientists, students and visitors.
History
Pacifican bioscientists gathered in Seattle in 1974 to discuss about the bright future of biotechnology. They then decide to build networks of laboratory in United Pacific and to increase scientific interactions between researchers. 215 scientist were elected as the first members of the PBC.
Research
The PBC is doing research on the biotechnology, gene, and other biological fields.
