Blue-red coalition
In Besmenia, a blue-red coalition or red-blue coalition is a government coalition of the Besmenian People's Party and the Social Democratic Union. This coalition is one of the most traditional and oldest. Such coalitions have become very rare since the 1970s on federal level, as the majority of SDU politicans prefer a coalition with the FBBP. Between 1956 and 1972 both parties were involved in the government for a total of 16 years (between 1956-1964 under BVP leadership and 1964-1972 under SDU leadership). After that there was a blue-red coalition only 40 years later between 2012-2016.
