The Peransao International Game Awards, commonly referred to as the PIGA, is an annual awards ceremony honouring outstanding achievements in the video game industry. Established in 2008, the shows are produced and hosted by game journalist and former game developer, Lisandro Bastos. In addition to the awards, the PIGA also feature premieres of new games and in-depth looks at previously announced ones.
History
Process
Countries from all over Iearth nominate games released the year of the award ceremony. From there, a representative of each nation that is participating then votes on which game should win each category. At the end of the week long voting process, the awards will be handed out at the prestigious event.
Each nation can only submit once per category. As for the total amount of games a nation can nominate throughout the event, that amount is three. As the event has six awards, one can split that up between three games like 2-2-2 or even 3-2-1 for example. Of course, each nation doesn't have to have three games up for nomination. A nation can choose to have one game nominated for every category.
