Gatovita, which is located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, is the capital city of Vitosium. Founded in 1826 as Colburn, and incorporated as Gatovita in 1848, the city has evolved into the political centre of Vitosium.

As of 2021, the estimated population was 8,200,000, making it the most populous city in the country. Additionally, Gatovita has the most educated population among Vitosian cities.

History

Gatovita, then known as Colburn, was planned and developed by Benjamin Cabrali, Calisto Palacino, David Mendes, and Gustavo Bouveia in 1844 in a scheme to move the capital from Etherset for the sole purpose of having the nation led somewhere that wasn't the home of King Alexander of Vitaso. The landscape architect was Fulvio Saltoni-Famara. All three branches of Vitosium's federal government are centered in the city: executive, legislative and judiciary. Gatovita also hosts many foreign embassies.

City Districts

The city is split up into many districts.

Colitalla

The Colitalla District is an older residential neighbourhood, which contains many vacated industrial buildings, some now used for movie production, and others repurposed for studios and shops. In the early 19th century, most Colitalla residents found employment at one of the local breweries or brickyards. Some of the original workers' cottages can still be seen in the area.

Coragem Valley

Coragem Valley is mainly residential, and streets are lined with tall trees dwarfing the large homes, most of them built between 1870 and the late 1890s. The 1940s and 1950s saw the replacement of some houses with mid-rise (and a handful of high-rise) apartment buildings. These were surrounded with landscaped green spaces in an attempt to better fit into the neighbourhood.

Embarvia

This district houses the embassies from other countries.

Gallaporta

Gatovita's most famous shopping mall, the Cabralletto Center.

This is known as Gatovita's shopping district. It is located west of the Marianta District. Gallaporta includes the market buildings and open-air market along Cabrali, Barbosa, Rosa and Wellend street. The district itself is regulated by a City of Vitosium municipal services corporation named The Gallaporta Corporation, which also operates the smaller south-end Coppio Market located in the Lamorni District. The corporation is run by a seven-member board of directors. The Market Building, which is owned by The Gallaporta Corporation and can be found on Cabrali Street, is open year-round, and open-air stalls offering fresh produce are operated in the warmer months. The Gallaporta District has been an area of constant change, adapting to the increasingly cosmopolitan nature of downtown Gatovita, as well as trends in Vitosian society as a whole.

Ganzio

This district includes several parks and is one of the most densely populated districts in the city.

Lamorni

This district is a historically working-class, predominantly residential neighbourhood, with a commercial strip located along Rodrigues Street East. It is home to the Coppio Market, a large shopping area located along Linvey Avenue.

Limelight City

This is where the many film and TV studios are. A notable TV studio found here is Noble.

Marianta

This district holds the parliament buildings, including the Cardassio Parliamentary Building and the Vitosian W.E.D.A. Headquarters, as well as the museums. This is a very popular tourist spot for those wanting to know the history of the country. The district is also marked by a mix of residential and commercial properties. The main streets such as Guandomar Street and Vitolaga Street are largely commercial, while the smaller ones, notably Felgueirca and Potecci are more residential. The southern portion of the district contains newer infill and town house developments, as well as low-rise and high-rise apartment buildings.

Seviviedo

This district is home to two parks, Forletta and Metalos, the latter of which has a playstructure and wading pool. The district is also home to Segollón Avenue Public School, Soli Cardassio Public School and the Gatovita Public Library Seviviedo Branch. During the summer, Seixas Family Berry Farms operates a stand at the corner of Ricos and Tadora.

The Platinum Circle

The University Of Gatovita

This district is dominated by large single-family homes as well as condominiums and small apartment buildings. It is also home to many boutiques, galleries, restaurants, cafes, bars, and nightclubs, as well as The University of Gatovita.

The district is also home to Horizon Zenith Tower, the largest building in Vitosium, which houses a multitude of restaurants, stores and an observation deck on top. It is 251 meters tall and has 66 floors. The building was commissioned and is owned by Linvey Media LLC. It is located at 317 Summit Boulevard.
