The Willisville Wyverns are a professional football club based in Willisville, Allied Castarcian States, who play in the Castarcian Premier League. The Wyverns have won 10 league titles since 1934, which is the third most league wins for a Castarcian team.
History
Originally founded in 1934 after the formation of the Castarcian Premier League and the Allied Castarcian States Football Association (ACSFA), the Willisville Wyverns have played top-flight football for 81 years and have won 10 league titles in total, in 1954, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1966, 1970, 1997, 2000, 2002 and 2015.
In 2015, the ACSFA selected the Wyverns to represent the Allied Castarcian States at the inaugural Atlas World Cup and neglected to reform the national team. The Chairman of the ACSFA, Fergus Bladderberg, stated that "a national team would lack the chemistry between players that existing teams possessed" and thus the Wyverns, as the most recent champions of the Castarcian Premier League (CPL) and a consistently high placing team for the last twenty years or so, were chosen.
Charlotte Teorell, the Queen of Brytene played for the Wyverns between 1994 and 2006, and captained the side between 1997 and her retirement in 2006, playing a key part in league victories.
Nicknames
The Willisville Wyverns are referred to as The Wyverns as it is simply a shortening of the full name of the club. However, the name Wyverns was inspired by the legendary creature of the same name, and the club claims to possess a (metaphorical) venomous bite and the ability to breath fire, due to the highly attacking playstyle most Wyvern squads adopt.
