The Elect Army is the main military arm of the Kingdom of Kembesa, comprising the bulk of its professional forces in its land, maritime, and air components. Universal male conscription has been in effect since 1982 with few compromises even for Kembesans with disabilities. Conscript terms of service last between 12 and 18 months depending on the jurisdiction or any penalty that may have been applied to a youth entering into the service. Penal service is also not unheard of. The armies of early Kembesa were composed of household guards and levied peasants. Prior to the creation of the Elect Army, the household guard of the monarch of Kembesa (the Tebaki'seyoum) had an expanded mandate. By the early 18th century CE, the Tebaki'seyoum was a standing army tasked with guarding the borders of the kingdom against foreign threats and enforcing the monarch's edicts on trade restrictions and tariffs.
The expansion of the monarch's authority through the power of the Tebaki'seyoum was ill-received by many nobles of the kingdom. In 1734 a civil war broke out. The revolt was quelled in 1737, the leader and several nobles were executed, and their names were condemned to be forgotten.
In the decades following the end of the civil war, the Tebaki'seyoum retained its importance in guarding Kembesa's borders and protecting trade. At the same time, the monarch and nobles were in agreement that a dedicated standing army would be necessary to maintain cooperative interests and readiness in the event of a foreign invasion. The T’ori'seyoum was founded in 1759 to serve as a standing army, ultimately subservient to the monarch but commanded by a noble serving at the monarch's leisure.
| |||
In the 20th century, the T’ori'seyoum remained in the background as civil unrest grew within Kembesa. The Tebaki'seyoums role had shifted by this time from the monarch's household guard and border guard to become effectively a secret police force. Dissatisfaction with the introduction of a new constitution, famine, and political discourse resulted in the 1981 Coup attempt by several dukes and large portions of the T’ori'seyoum. The T’ori'seyoum would be restructured away from its previous region, household-like structure in 1982.
===Modern deployments=== | ===Modern deployments===
The first deployment of the reorganized Elect Army was in 1986 with the outbreak of the Agysimban revolt in M'biruna. The Kembesan forces intervened in its southern neighbour, largely in support of the Amaveni peoples caught up in the conflict. The conflict had originally broken out in 1982, and would continue a further two decades after the Kembesan intervention had begun, finally ceasing in 2006.
Simultaneous, Kembesa joined in support of the Latin-backed Fahrani state in the 1985-1987 Ninvite War. While Kembesa's role was relatively minor, Kembesan troops saw active combat in the latter stages of the conflict.
In 2019, Kembesa launched a limited intervention in the Fahrani Civil War, supporting the Royalist faction behind Hazea I. In August of 2022, the Kembesan intervention was reinforced and launched into an independent action with the apparent aim of annexing Fahrani territory into the Kingdom of Kembesa.

The Elect Army's Land Component counts 206,600 active personnel and 156,300 reservists. The Land Component has 71 regiments divided into 18 divisions, with four divisions per corps and four corps in total. The Elect Guards Corps is a division-level formation tasked specifically with the defense of the capital and the monarch. 40 of the 71 regiments are conscript regiments. Another four regiments are penal formations, as penal military service is a relatively common punishment in Kembesa.

The Elect Army, or T’ori'seyoum (Kembesan: ጦርሥዩመ), is the main military arm of the Kingdom of Kembesa, comprising the bulk of its professional forces in its land, maritime, and air components. Universal male conscription has been in effect since 1982 with few compromises even for Kembesans with disabilities. Conscript terms of service last between 12 and 18 months depending on the jurisdiction or any penalty that may have been applied to a youth entering into the service. Penal service is also not unheard of. Women are completely barred from service in the Kembesan military and paramilitary forces.
History
In the 20th century, the T’ori'seyoum remained in the background as civil unrest grew within Kembesa. The Tebaki'seyoum's role had shifted by this time from the monarch's household guard and border guard to become effectively a secret police force. Dissatisfaction with the introduction of a new constitution, famine, and political discourse resulted in the 1981 Coup attempt by several dukes and large portions of the T’ori'seyoum. The T’ori'seyoum would be restructured away from its previous region, household-like structure in 1982.
Modern deployments

The Air Fleet Component is divided into two wings. The first wing is composed of four light attack squadrons and a multirole squadron. The second wing includes two bomber squadrons and two lift squadrons.
The Maritime Fleet Component is divided into four groups. The first three groups are based in Kima, Arwas, and Ne'welo and are each led by a frigate, supported by a corvette, leading five strike craft. The fourth group is composed of 16 patrol boats which are deployed from smaller bases along the Kembesan coast.
