Usage
This works with Template:Static row numbers. It prevents row numbers from being added to the left of certain rows.
Place it after |-
Static data rows
There are a few tables with static data rows that can't use this template. See the 2021 table in this version of COVID-19 pandemic deaths#2021.
Those static rows at the top under the main header row are rows of data.
To maintain right text alignment in those data cells then simply use class=static-row-header
It can be combined with class=sorttop to keep those rows from sorting.
