History
Riamese era
XVIIIth century
During the Riamese expansionist era, there were several attempts at finding promising lands eastward for their incorporation into the empire, but poor logistical connections and mapping lead to a low amounts of funded voyages into the lands.
James Vent would be the first Riamese captain to establish an outpost in the region's then known as the West Gulf lands; an area with changing currents and rough seas that had been difficult to cartograph by the Riamese.
By 1707 fights with natives had come to be commonplace through the three known settlements, with the town of Venture reaching the centenar of settlers by 1712.
Because of unfavorable currents, difficult navigation routes, and complex diplomatic relations with uncooperative native tribes, a proper colony would only be proclaimed by the 1730s, when peace accords made with several local tribes allowed for a series of large military incursions into the deeply forested region, which lead to the imposition of said tribes as local lieutenants and indirectly lead to local economies finally growing.
Tutelage of local tribes into lieutenants lead to the growth of both a bourgeoisie and an enslaved population of natives, of differentiated tribes.
By the 1780s, following a wave of urban expansionism northward, a generalized awakening of the un-collaborative tribes against the Riamese-lead lieutenant upper classes lead to a growing number of assaults on Riamese settlements by natives. The Northern Expeditions, lead by General William Watergate and Lord Fulham, would eliminate the native threat for decades to come, becoming a large scale success for both generals and being praised as some of the most prominent military victories made by severely outnumbered forces
great war (1905-1911)
Hylian protectorate
the coast of Vent officially becomes a Hylian protectorate and is renamed "Costa Venta" at the end of the war in 1912, under the leadership of the Hylian representative Garis Harding the country is modernized, democratized with the formation in 1916 of a government locally elected and even obtains independence in all areas except for its defense guaranteed by Hylia.
on April 3, 1941 following the coup d'etat in Hylia, the Hylian Garrison and certain elements of the Costa-Ventian State Guard took control of government buildings, the new Hylian Head of State Victor Badanko put to the head of the Costa Venta the head of the State Guard Jorden Perus who proclaims himself president for life of the Costa Venta.
During the period of the dictatorship from 1941 to 1970, the country was completely independent and led with an iron fist by Colonel Perus, it is estimated that during the multiple purges that took place, nearly 4,000 people disappeared.
When the Badanko dictatorship fell in Hylia, the CRR, which temporarily ran the country, put pressure on the Costa-Ventien regime before invading Costa Venta militarily.
