The Si Qadir massacre was the deadliest massacre of the Salamati Civil War. It took place from dusk to dawn, May 28 to May 29,1997, 10 days after the Terrorist attack against The Salamati Evening, in the town of Si Qadir, 10 km southwest of Dar Al Hamma.
Course of the massacre
A group of pickups transporting terrorists arrived at both the west and east extremities of the city at dusk and some were dispatched to surround it in case of escape. The terrorists slaughtered,tortured men, kidnapped women and threw children off the roofs of their own houses. Out of the 2 072 residents of the town, only 28 survived, mostly by escaping through the forest nearby. The massacre ended at dawn, when the military was informed.
